I felt…
I didn’t have the words for it, didn’t have anything to compare it to. Physically, I’d never been as satisfied as I was now. But it was more than that.
When Ezekiel kissed me, stroked inside me, it was more than a physical act. It was deeper, elemental.
My instinct was to question it, try to deny it, but I didn’t let myself. There would be time for that later.
He pulled me into a tight hug, his hard chest and abs pressed against my breasts and rounded stomach.
Some other time, with some other person, I might feel inadequate or embarrassed, but I didn’t, not with Ezekiel.
He smiled. “You mind if I stay over?” he asked.
He didn’t sound tentative or like he even doubted my answer, but I sensed the question was a big one for him.
“Your home is mine,” I responded.
He kissed me, smiled, but then pulled away.
“You’re leaving?” I asked, trying to not to sound disappointed.
“Just wanna grab some stuff from my place. I was presumptuous enough to bring condoms, but I didn’t want to show up with an overnight bag too,” he said.
I laughed then watched as he dressed.
“Don’t take too long,” I said.
He smiled and then walked back toward me and gave me a deep kiss, one that had a body I was sure was wrung out ready to go again.
“See you soon,” he whispered, and then he left.
I lingered in bed but then got up, showered, and dressed, feeling as at ease as I could remember.
He hadn’t been gone even an hour, but I found my thoughts constantly turning to him, wondering what he might be doing, trying to imagine one of his funny, off-kilter reactions.
Which was ridiculous.
If I looked at it, really considered it, he had helped me in a pinch, and our time together had been magical, but otherwise, he shouldn’t have been occupying this much space in my head.
What did I know about him, really?
That he had money or at least looked he had access to it? That he was undeniably, without any reservation, not the average Joe?
All of those things were true, but what was truer still was that I felt an undeniable connection with him.
It was unreasonable and had absolutely no basis in anything like reality, but it was there.
I could pretend otherwise, needed to, but despite my brain, my mind and body were thoroughly taken by him.
At the knock on my door, I ran over and pulled it open without looking.
Froze when I saw not Ezekiel, but Frank, whom I’d hoped to never see again.
“What the hell!”
Before I could react, he had pushed me inside and closed the door.
I wanted to scream, wanted to fight, but held tight to my wits.
“You came to apologize, I hope?” I said with as much fire as I could muster.
“I came here to—”
“Wait. I need a moment,” I said, raising my hand to cut him off, my stance aggressive but my heart pounding.
I hated to turn my back on him but had no choice. So I did.
